Public Program and Outreach Coordinator The Art Gallery of Alberta is looking for an innovative thinker who can help to build audiences and excitement through the development and delivery of an annual series of public programs that capture the public's imagination and expand the experience of art and the museum. The Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of AGA public programs and community outreach activities. Reporting to the Deputy Director/Chief Curator, the Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator will produce a schedule of public programs, events and community outreach activities that animate, complement and enhance AGA exhibitions and collections. Specific duties of the Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator will include: the conceptual development, administration and implementation of adult-focused public programs including: artists' talks, lectures, courses, film series, symposia, performances, lunch hour programs and late night event programming. The Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator will administer the AGA's public and private exhibition tour programs, including tour scheduling, staff hiring, training, scheduling and overall coordination. The Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator will also develop and oversee special community-based partnership initiatives and related special projects.
Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will possess a university degree in art or art history, a thorough knowledge of Canadian art history and issues in contemporary art; 3-5 years working experience in a museum, public art gallery and/or artist run centre as well as demonstrated experience in program development and delivery. Candidates will have an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; strong organizational and administrative skills and the ability to work under general direction and within a team environment.
