Using the CAR site

General CAR Information
CAR was designed to be an easy to navigate, content rich resource for artists. The site offers great utility for both registered users and guests. 

It is not necessary to create a CAR account to search, browse, or view content on the site. However, you will need to create an account to post content on the site.

Registered users can post listings for space and jobs, participate in the forums, and receive other site benefits. Registration is free.

Posting to CAR
Users can post information on CAR for Free. To post a "Call for Entry," a "Job," or a "Space," you must first create an account.

Creating a CAR Account    
To participate in the CAR community create a new account by clicking the create account link on the user log-in block.
This will take you to the user account screen.

• Enter a user name (it has to be a unique name -in our system only letters numbers or spaces are allowed. No special characters).
  Ex: robert11
  
• Enter a valid email address.
  A password and instructions will be sent to this e-mail address, so make sure it is accurate. You must access the email and follow the instructions to log in as a registered user.
  
• We also ask for the following personal information:
  First Name, Last Name and Zip Code.

Note: This information will not be displayed to general users of site. It is collected for demographic analysis purposes only. We respect your privacy. Read our policies to learn more.

Once you have submitted this information an email is sent to the address you provided. Follow the instructions and return to the website to log in.

Edit your account profile
Once you are logged in you will see some new links on the user block.

• Click on the my account link to access your account information.
• Click the edit tab to change your personal information or your password.

You may also upload a picture of yourself or your artwork (which will be visible to other users of the site).

• Click on the Browse button to find a picture on your computer’s drive.
• Scroll down and click submit when you are finished to upload the picture (the image will be resized and saved with your account information).

The Comments section allows you to add information that you may want to share with community. Add any comments you want to share and click submit when you are finished.

Ex:  I’m an installation artist that specializes in large scale audio and video projects. I’m always interested in connecting with other like minds for collaborative projects.


Forums
Forums consist of clusters of related topics. When you click on the Category title of a forum, you will be able to review existing topics, or add one of your own.

• To Add a Forum Topic:  For things you think should be discussed, then click on the Submit Forum Topic link.
  Just fill out a Title for your topic, find the most appropriate category for forum topic and select a sub category from the list. Then, clearly summarize your issue in the box. Scroll down to the bottom; -you may chose to preview your message. When you are satisfied, click on submit.
  
• To Reply to Others: Again, when you click on the Forum title, you will see a list of topics introduced by other members. For each topic and/or comment, you can choose to join the discussion by replying. Reply posts a message on the webpage at the bottom of the list.

Forums are moderated frequently to assure that content is on topic and useful to the community.

Jobs
Post a job that you are offering. It will take up to an hour for a job to be added to the search system. Your job will be available for 30 days, then it will be automatically deleted.

Space
Post a space that you want other to use. It will take up to an hour for a space to be added to the search system. Your space will be available for 30 days, then it will be automatically deleted.

Bookmarks
Bookmarks allow you to save links to page site in a handy tool block for easy access.
Click the bookmark this page link to add a link. Copy and paste the url from your browser into the link field use the existing title or type a new one and click save.
You can edit your bookmarks by choosing the manage bookmarks link. This will allow you to view, edit or delete your saved bookmarks.
