Visual Arts instructor for grades 6 - 9

The Summer Arts Camp at Columbia College Chicago is a 6-week day camp that explores the visual, performing and media arts for children in grades 3rd - 9th.  We are currently looking for a visual arts teacher for 6th - 9th graders.  Formal teaching experience is not required however prior experience working with children is mandatory. We are searching for applicants who possess creativity, strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish.  Teachers are responsible for designing and implementing class curriculum under the supervision of the camp's director. Teachers instruct three classes daily, Monday through Thursday (6/21/10 - 7/30/10) and prepare a final presentation for the last day of the program.

Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

-be comfortable managing groups of children
-have loads of patience and a sense of humor
-be energetic and outgoing
-have a passion and commitment to the arts
-have a general knowledge of art history and art forms
-have experience working in various mediums (painting, drawing, printmaking, basic photography, sculpture, paper arts, etc)
-be able to create original projects and implement existing projects
-curate and install a gallery exhibition for the last day
