The Chicago Public Schools Office of Arts Education has partnered with the Department of Cultural Affairs to host ongoing presentations introducing new opportunities, resources and programs for arts specialist teachers and arts providers.  An open discussion format will follow each presentation to increase dialogue between K-12 art teachers and the broader arts community.  Space is limited so please RSVP by email to nacortes@cps.k12.il.us or

Linda Nelson Keane
School of the Art Institute of Chicago - Professor of Architecture and Environmental Design

will introduce NEXT, an online eco web resource, that acts as a catalyst for innovative thinking around built and natural environments. The NEXT website at www.Next.cc promotes ecological stewardship and age-appropriate curriculum for Grades 3-12.     NEXT combines tools of scientists, artists, designers, and environmentalists with information about natural resources to influence design and positively shape our world.

Tatiana Gant
Illinois Arts Council - Director of Arts-in-Education Programs
will present grant criteria for school-based (short and long-term) arts residency programs. The Arts-In-Education Tour Program managed by the Illinois Arts Council provides special experiences for school districts throughout the State and can be accessed by educators on-line.  Learn about how these grant programs are possible through government support and about other sources for funding arts education initiatives.
