This Evanston-based non-profit brings appreciation for the arts and the creative process to the community by leading groups to museums, art facilities, artist studios, collectors' homes, and public art projects. Art Encounter offers workshops and classes to experience art hands, professional development workshops for teaching artists, and art critique classes for professional artists. They focus on reaching underserved audiences such as senior citizens and students and elementary and secondary schools. Formerly the Chicago Historical Society, this private organization archives and presents information on Chicago's cultural history. Offers professional development for teachers, adult classes, community outreach programs and curriculum resources. Smart Museum artists work with teachers in Chicago South Side public schools to integrate art into the classrooms.
