CONVERGENCE is a multi-disciplinary, collaborative event situated inside a massive vacant garage in Chicago that explores the relationship between movement, architecture and media.
The event features choreographed episodes that interact with a suite of four architectural installations through interactive media technology. Movement of both performers and the audience are digitally captured, translated into an organic representation and then transferred onto architectural surfaces and enclosures.
Four architectural situations are presented- Position, Enclosure, Proximity and Compression. The dance language will reveal the body's capacity to interact within these dynamic environments and its ability to affect and inscribe space -experienced as a series of amplified and virtuosic physical dialogues with the various constructions throughout the garage.
Convergence intends to reveal the potential of our spatial condition as a more reciprocal relationship, one that allows us to influence our surroundings more directly, emotionally and aesthetically
