Chicago-SuburbsThe City of Elgin and Artspace Projects is excited to be working together on their vision of creating affordable live/work space for artists. In March 2008 Artspace and the City conducted a two-day, prefeasibility visit and evaluated the potential for such a project to succeed.
The findings report was very positive and as a result, the City of Elgin and Artspace is conducting an in-depth artist market space needs survey. Artists interested in participating can take the survey on-line at www.artspaceelgin.org
Your participation in this survey will help Artspace understand living and working space needs, determine if there is enough interest to justify funding for a project, decide what size project would best serve the community, and to ultimately design a better facility. We encourage any interested artist to participate in the market survey. The City will conduct a Public Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on July 24 at the Heritage Ballroom in The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, on the importance of the survey and your participation. The survey will be available on-line through September 18, 2008.Please refer your artist friends and colleagues to take the survey. Also please sign up at www.cityofelgin.org to receive updated information on the progress of the project on the City’s home page Elgin E-News Sign-up. Any questions please call Jan Reedus at 847-931-5592.
