A homogeneous board will not be ready to deal effectively with problems
due to an inherent near-sightedness. Diversity on a board breeds
varying opinions, approaches, attitudes and solutions.
The potential for management and board missteps resulting from a
homogeneous board is likely to keep your organization perpetually off
balance and out of touch. Moving beyond your comfort zone and
recruiting a diverse mix of board members can result in more thorough
and well-rounded decision making, community awareness and investment,
and transparent and dedicated service to constituents.
