Artist Story Submission Guidelines
Contribute your story to Chicago Artists Resource

Wafaa Bilal '1-Ajrass' 2000
Artist Stories and Arts Professional Stories are brief essays, posted on Chicago Artists Resource, in which you describe an element of your artistic process. By sharing experiences and expertise with others in the field, you provide solutions and inspiration to other artists. Over time, these "stories" become a living archive of creative activity in Chicago, a resource to both the art world and general public alike. Check out the Artist Stories on CAR to date.
Everyone is invited to contribute an Artist Story or Arts Professional Story, whether you are an active artist, a teacher, an administrator, a funder, or even an audience member. CAR posts are Google-friendly, so your essay will be a top Google Search result under your name.
GUIDELINES
Compose a first-person essay of up to a 1000 words, describing some element of your artistic practice or expertise or your organization's history/purpose. Try to be concise and specific, giving examples of how you solved certain problems or developed strategies to achieve your goals. Some participants choose to answer a question with their essay. Peruse our list of sample questions.
Things to avoid are lengthy artist statements and extended biographies. We will preserve the voice, style, and intent of your story; however, we reserve the right to edit your essay for length, grammar, and clarity. We may also ask you to edit or rewrite your submission as necessary.
