ADI is made up of two residency-based programs: The Affiliates program fosters the artistic development of U.S.-based, diaspora artists by providing them a wide array of services and non-financial resources over a sustained period of time. The Associates program specifically serves Brooklyn-based artists, providing them with access to artistic consultation, master classes, professional workshops, and other group and peer learning opportunities. |

The publication addresses three critical issues in the field of artists’ communities: Fund Development, Building Community Within, and Community Engagement/Outreach. The report includes case studies of six artists’ communities, detailing the programs, fundraising ideas, and creative environments that have enabled them to thrive. In addition, the report gives a detailed and thought-provoking analysis of a membership-wide survey on community engagement--the challenges and opportunities it presents, and a vision for the future. The 3rd Edition of this widely-praised directory has been revised and updated to include an index of 347 residency opportunities worldwide (50% more than the 2nd edition!), as well as comprehensive details on 95 residency centers. A searchable website and database on the field of artist communities. By region and artistic discipline, as well as information on ADA and wheelchair accessible programs.
http://www.artistcommunities.org/residencies.html The result of two years of intensive research on the field of artist communities, this report provides information to help artists' community staff and boards manage, stabilize, fundraise for, develop, and market their organizations. Includes a 50-p. narrative report and 67 statistical tables describing artists' community residents, facilities, residency program structures, outreach and public relations, land use and special projects, local economic impact, residency budgets, financial stability/fund development, staffing, board structure and responsibilities, program planning and evaluation, artist selection and technical assistance needs of the field. This publication provides introductory topical essays, how-to overviews, and dozens of standard and sample documents on nonprofit management in general and artists’ residency programs specifically. While the guide will be especially helpful for start-up organizations, it can also serve as a resource for established nonprofit programs, especially those evaluating their existing policies and documents. In cooperation with the Property Company Amsterdam (Woningbedrijf Amsterdam) the Fund carries out the Artists In Residence programme. In the long term this programme offers five artists of various disciplines the opportunity to live and work for a year in Amsterdam. Artists cannot individually apply for the Artists-in-Residence programme. They are selected by the Fund and/or by third parties. The most important criterion is the extent to which an artist is able to contribute to a vital art climate in Amsterdam. Not only with new works of art, but also with visiting lectureships, public readings or the counselling of Amsterdam artists. |
