Email: info@americanbladesmith.com
Our society offers two membership categories, regular and associate. The first is for working bladesmiths and the second is for collectors and anyone else interested in the forged blade. For working smiths, there are qualifying levels to achieve, in order to earn the status of Master Smith. This process takes a serious smith approximately 4 to 5 years to complete, following a program outlined by the ABS. The Society stresses that blade tests are given only to those members who are applying for Journeyman or Masters Stamps. Forged blade tests are also conducted by ABS members at the blade shows and seminars for demonstration purposes. The ABS does not encourage or sanction any tests given to blades, commercial or otherwise, outside of its own organization.
