Work Space

Try to temporarily share work space with friends or colleagues. Perhaps you can find someone who uses their studio during the daytime, and you could use it in the evenings for a few weeks. If you can afford to rent short-term space, consider the following:
  • Chicago Park District (CPD): CPD runs more than 220 field houses and facilities, including auditoriums, classrooms and meeting rooms. Depending on the size of the room, day of week and location of the facility, use of CPD spaces can quickly become expensive. Cost may be as little as $25 an hour for a small classroom, to as high as $150 per hour for a large meeting room.

CPD is a short-term solution. You cannot leave your supplies, or work in these spaces outside of your rental time. Each facility keeps its own schedule, and requires an application. Because the condition of each facility and the actual size of the spaces vary drastically, view the facilities before paying to use them.
