MUNROE PARK THEATER GUILD TO AUDITION GWEN AND GWENThe Munroe Park Theater Guild will hold auditions for their upcoming production of Nancy Kiefer’s psychological drama, Gwen and Gwen.  We are looking for four females who can play roles between the ages of 30 - 60.  The Open Call will be Sunday, March 21st from 2:00 – 4:30 and Tuesday, March 23rd from 7:00 – 9:30 and the Call-Backs will be Friday, March 26th from 7:00 - 9:30 at Ridge Park, 9625 S. Longwood Drive.  Chicago, IL. 60643   The Open Call will consist of cold readings from the script.  NO PAY.  If you have any questions or cannot make the Open Call and would like to set up another time to audition, please contact Kevin McSweeney at (312) 747-6561 or email him at munroeparktheaterguild@gmail.com. The performances will be June 10, 11, 12. Gwen and Gwen is the story of Gwen, who has just been released from her group home where she has been under psychiatric care and is trying to reestablish her life, her identity, and her relationship with her estranged young children.  After the social worker who has provided emotional support during the last year of her life leaves her dingy apartment, a disturbing side of Gwen appears as a separate character.  In a classic psychological struggle, Gwen’s alter ego torments and goads her toward her self destruction.    ROLES: (all roles are open)GWEN KESSLER: A woman in her late twenties or early thirties; plain looking and poorly dressed.  Gwen is cautious and nervous.  She has suffered a neurotic breakdown and is trying to put her life back together.  She struggles between what she thinks she “should” do and the self-destructive and self-involved indulgences of her alter-ego, Gwen II. GWEN II: The physical and psychological opposite of Gwen; stylish, well-dressed, and heavily made up.  Gwen II is confident and ego-driven.  She is the “negative” side of Gwen, who yearns to be free of the constraints of society and, in the end, of existence.    ESTELLE REVES: A social worker in her thirties or forties; she is physically non-descript and dresses very professionally.  Estelle embodies a supportive and positive attitude, though something subtle in her demeanor suggests that this attitude stems more from her job as a social worker than from genuine concern. MARY ROSE KESSLER: Gwen’s mother; a plain, unstylish woman in her late-fifties or early sixties.  Harsh and detached, Mary has a propensity toward physical neatness, which is more important to her than any emotional connection with or support of her children.
