Theater Class teacher for grades 3 - 6 (accepting apps till 4/5/10)

The Summer Arts Camp at Columbia College is a 6-week program that explores the visual, performing and media arts for children in grades 3rd - 9th. We are currently looking for a performing arts instructor to teach theater for grades 3rd - 6th.  Formal teaching experience is not required however prior experience working with children is mandatory. We are searching for applicants who possess creativity, strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish.  Teachers are responsible for designing and implementing class curriculum under the supervision of the camp's director. Teachers instruct three classes daily, Monday through Thursday (6/21/10 - 7/30/10), and prepare a final presentation for the last day of the program.

Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

-be comfortable managing groups of children
-have loads of patience and a sense of humor
-be energetic and outgoing
-have a passion and commitment to the arts
-be able to introduce children to the basics of theater using a variety of methods
-have a vast knowledge of theater games and exercises
-be able to produce an original production (or adapt an existing one) for each class
