"Two-person sketch comedy that defies expectation; highly physical, utterly absurd and ridiculously funny. Critic's Pick!" - Time Out Chicago

"Funny...versatile...from persuasive social satire to uninhibited physical humor. Recommended!" - Chicago Reader

Directed by sketch maestro Brian Posen, Sherra Lasley and John Sviokla perform raw, vulnerable, biting material designed to provoke laughter and thought in equal proportions. The duo explores the awkward and the personal, going beyond typical sketch scenarios and taking things as far as they can. All that, and a chorus of chickens performs "the Carol of the Bells!"

Thursdays @ 10:30pm through October 8.

$10 tickets available online or 773.880.0199.

Jablonski!

Organization Description:

Jablonski! is John Sviokla and Sherra Lasley performing sketch comedy at it’s finest. Raw, vulnerable, biting comedy that provokes laughter and thought in equal proportions.

Sherra Lasley
Originally from Iowa, Sherra Lasley started performing at an early age, doing many shows at the three theatres in the state. Since arriving in Chicago, she has studied improv at the Second City and iO Theater, eventually performing with the iO Harold teams Skeleton Attack and Go-Go Manifesto.  She also became a member of sketch comedy group Grandma June's Sewing Circle, where she met her future comedy husband, John "Svi" Sviokla. When the group went on hiatus, the two felt their comedic views were just starting to blossom and formed Jablonski! Sherra can also currently be seen performing and drinking with the cast of Bye Bye Liver: The Chicago Drinking Play, in an open run at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts.

John Sviokla
Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, John Sviokla is an an accomplished writer, performer, director and waiter. He has been involved with various incarnations of innumerable groups in Chicago and Boston, including "Cornered By Squirrels," a Loyola-based improv and sketch troupe which was loved by audiences, lauded by critics, and litigated in 2004 for slander by Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow Coalition, after an all-white performance of Raisin in the Sun.  As it turns out, the Reverend has considerably strong objections to the theatrical use of color blind casting.

Director Brian Posen

A Chicago native, Brian Posen is the founder and Executive Producer of the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, the largest sketch comedy festival in the nation, hosting over 100 sketch comedy troupes, 800 artists, and over 10,000 patrons every January. He is also the founder and director of the Cupid Players, called the "Best Sketch Comedy Group in Chicago" by the Chicago Reader, and currently  performing the longest running sketch revue in iO Theater's history, Cupid Has a Heart On: A Musical Guide to Relationships.  In addition to these credits, Brian been active in the Chicago theater scene for over 20 years as an actor, producer, director, and teacher.  His B & F Productions has received several awards including ‘Jeff’ and ‘After Dark’ awards. He is a senior faculty member at the Second City Training Center, where he has been teaching improvisation for 16 years, as well as teaching at Columbia College Chicago for 15 years. PerformInk has called Brian Posen one of the most influential people in the Chicago theater scene.
