Aloft Loft begins a monthly open stage series
Have we got the cheap date idea for you! Beginning December 6th, The Aloft Loft will be hosting a gaggle of local circus artists in a casual, fun show that costs possibly nothing! Yes, that's right, you can get in for FREE! How, you say? Well, can you do ten pull ups? The price of the event is $10, minus however many pull ups you can do (that's pull ups, people, not chin ups!). If you can do 10, well, I guess that's just our own bad luck...though we may try to recruit you. Or we might just nicely ask you to make a donation anyway.
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THE AMAZING PRICE! Let me tell you about the amazing show. Aloft is welcoming interested circus artists from all over to come share our stage. The main purpose of this show us purely one of self-interest. You see, good performance footage of a circus act is awfully hard to come by, so by having a cheap show we can get a fun supportive audience in to clap and cheer as we film our acts to use for promoting ourselves to agents and clients. You never know what you'll get at the cabaret...you might see 5 silks acts from 5 different companies, or you might see a 6-year-old Russian trapeze artist, or an inner-city juggling superstar from the Chicago Youth Circus, or someone trying their act in front of an audience for the first time and asking for feedback, or someone who has done their act so many times they're going to try it blindfolded this time. Who knows, but for less than $10, you can't beat it!
