Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier seeks a Lighting Supervisor/Master Electrician. CST consists of two spaces, the 500 seat Courtyard Theater and a 180 seat flexible Black Box. The supervisor manages a full time programmer/board op in the Courtyard space and hires/oversees large overhire crews for strikes, load-ins and changeovers. He/She collaborates with designers to develop plan for hang, focus of all CST productions. Ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting and rigging abilities, and will have extensive knowledge of ETC Express/Obsession II consoles and ETC dimmers. A strong knowledge of electrical theory, safe work practices, Lightwright, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Excel, moving light use and maintenance, scrollers, fog, strobes and other F/X units is necessary. Supervisor manages the show budgets and a department maintenance budget. Fiscal responsibility and the ability to accurately project the costs of design implementation are important. Besides production specific M.E. responsibilities, supervisor is responsible for maintenance of CST inventory, and setting/running lights for special events. CST’s staff works with a wide range of artists and companies from all over the world. Salary is commensurate with experience.
