Ballroom Projects looking for a roommate and collaborator

Ballroom Projects

Ballroom Projects is an exciting artist-run apartment gallery in Bridgeport that has been operating as such for four years. We are currently looking for a roommate and collaborator.

We use our generous floorspace and three stories of headroom to house exhibitions and performances by emerging artists whose work exemplifies conceptual rigor and formal ambitiousness. We are a resource to promising artists in ways usually not available to those just starting out. We have strong educational aspirations, hosting student groups and artist/curator talks as well as grouping younger artists with more experienced ones -- such as Claire Ashley and two-time Whitney Biennial artist Joseph Grigely -- to demonstrate best professional exhibition practices and provide well deserved exposure. We have fostered partnerships with the Chicago Architecture Biennial and CAKE, the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo.

Bridgeport is a friendly community with a number of independent art initiatives. We are proud to call several other artist-run spaces our neighbors. Ballroom Projects is situated close a block from the Orange Line, three stops from the loop, and close to the 9, 62, and 31 bus routes.

We are seeking someone with studio and/or curatorial interests in a live/work space who is neat and tidy. Rent is below Chicago averages. Cats are welcome!
