Downtown
Downtown Zoning Districts (D) occur exclusively within the downtown area. There are four primary downtown districts – DC, DR, DS and DX.
DC: Downtown Core DistrictThe primary purpose of the DC - Downtown Core District is to promote office and employment growth within the downtown core. The DC District is recognized as a center of regional importance and as a principal hub for business, communications, office, government, retail, cultural, educational, visitor accommodations and entertainment. The District allows for a broad mix of office, commercial, public, recreation, and entertainment uses, as well as mixed-use (residential with non-residential) and residential-only purposes.
DR: Downtown Residential DistrictThe primary purpose of the DR - Downtown Residential District is to accommodate residential development and small-scale commercial uses on lower floors of a building with residential units above.
DS: Downtown Service DistrictThe primary purpose of the DS - Downtown Service District is to accommodate commercial and service uses essential to businesses and residents located downtown and the surrounding areas. This district allows for a mixture of small-scale office, commercial services, public uses, transportation services, communication services and industrial uses.
DX: Downtown Mixed-Use DistrictThe primary purpose of the DX - Downtown Mixed-Use District is to accommodate office, commercial, public, institutional and residential development. Most development in this district is vertically oriented mixed-use (residential with non-residential) projects that have active use of the ground floor spaces.
