THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO is seeking a candidate who will provide instruction and technical assistance to faculty and students using the Sullivan Fabrication Studio and Mold Making Facility. Monitor and contribute to patron progress on all projects in the Sullivan Fabrication Studio. Assist in the physical maintenance of tools, equipment and associated resources to provide a safe working environment. Supervise and develop student employees in delivery of Studio services and resources. Manage inventory of circulating tools, shop supplies and consumables. Advise Sullivan Fabrication Studio Manager of purchase needs to maintain adequate levels of materials for instructional use.
Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art or related field or equivalent work experience required; Masters degree is preferred. Knowledge and experience using a wide variety of floor mounted and hand held power tools. Working knowledge of 3-D digital imaging and file preparation for CNC machining preferred. Experience in plaster and mold making processes preferred. Supervisory experience in an industrial or educational facility. Teaching experience preferred. Strong managerial skills, including the ability to supervise and schedule staff, implement policies and procedures, order materials, and maintain budget. Ability to assist and instruct students in the safe and conceptual construction of projects. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with office software including Microsoft Word and Excel
