Implementer-- Kraft Great Kids Program, Chicago Park District

Title: Implementer—GreatKids@play 

Program: The Kraft Great Kids Program is a partnership between Kraft, the Chicago Park District, the Chicago Public Libraries and After School Matters that brings children meaningful out-of-school experiences in reading and the arts. 

General Description: Under supervision of the Kraft Great Kids Program Facilitator, the Implementer will be responsible for implementing the GreatKids@play program activities in two local parks Monday through Thursday, two hours each day during the after school hours (two days per week at each park).  Implementer will also be responsible for planning and preparation, attending and assisting with monthly Family Nights at each of their assigned parks, and for attending special events and field trips.  Implementers will work in collaboration with the Kraft Great Kids Instructor at each of their assigned parks, who is responsible for homework help and other reading activities. 

During the 2008-2009 school year, the GreatKids@play program will focus on comic book art using materials created by The Comic Book Project (www.comicbookproject.org).  Implementers will guide students through the process of creating their own comic books by leading them in drama and theater activities to help them develop characters and stories, and will assist students with drawing, coloring and writing dialogue.  During the Winter/Spring 2009 semester, when students have completed their comic books, Implementers will work with them to turn selected stories into simple scripts and group performances. 

Duties include:       

• Completing comic book art training and other required training sessions.
• Implementation of the GreatKids@play curriculum in assigned parks.
• Planning and preparation for program implementation.
• Completing weekly field notes on program activities.
• Attendance and participation at Kraft Great Kids events including Family Nights, field trips and closing events.
• Working with park staff to schedule program activities and facilities.
• Attendance at monthly Kraft Great Kids staff meetings.
• Communication with Program Facilitator and completion of attendance records and field reports.  

2008 Wage: $25 per hour (up to 11 hours per week)
