Darrell Jones is one of The Seldoms' guest choreographers for the 2008-09 Season. His new commissioned work, Whiff of Anarchy, will premiere along with Liz Burritt's Triggers at the Dance Center of Columbia College in February 2009. Join us for an early glimpse of this exciting new work at an informal showing and conversation with Darrell and the company.
Whiff of Anarchy is a piece about the collisions and consensus of people, cultures and ideologies. The piece attempts to break from the traditional ideology of riot as an ethnic male phenomena and investigate physically this unrestrained energy from a multitude of vantage points.
An embodiment of protest, riot will be explored as an ephemeral underground movement culture with its own set of rules, protocols and individual and collective improvisations.
