Arlington Heights’ 6th Annual Promenade of Art kicks off the Chicago area’s 2008 Summer Art Festival Season Saturday, May 31 – Sunday, June 1 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. in downtown Arlington Heights, Ill, just steps from the Metra station at 121 W. Campbell (intersection of Vail and Campbell) near the Metropolis Performing Arts Center. This free art festival is ranked one of the top 100 art festivals by Sunshine Artist magazine. Hosted by Northwest Community Hospital and the Village of Arlington Heights, the festival features wide range of functional and non-functional art including ceramics, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, mixed media, photography (b/w and color), painting (acrylic/mixed media /oil/watercolor), print, sculpture, wood, stone and more. In addition to the work of close to 150 artists from across the country and Canada, the estimated 25,000 visitors will enjoy live music and health related interactive activities, or stop by the Whole Foods Market tents and experience their Whole Body area while sampling tasty natural & organic foods. Kids can paint on a real car donated by Fields Auto at the Paint-A-Car tent and families can search the art festival for images to match on their Art Fest Bingo card. Admission to the Festival is free. Free public parking is available throughout the festival weekend in several commuter lots located along the Metra line.
