Managing Director

NEXT THEATRE COMPANY, Evanston’s resident professional theater and “among Chicago’s most adventurous” companies (New York Observer) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of MANAGING DIRECTOR. In its 27th season, Next Theatre Company has experienced rapid and continuous growth in the past six years, sending its world premiere Adding Machine: A Musical to off-Broadway and entering the ranks of Chicago’s mid-sized theater community. The company needs a Managing Director to consolidate these gains, ensure its continued fiscal health with hands-on management, and provide visionary leadership in the development of an energized fundraising program. The MD partners with Artistic Director in long-range planning, programming and production decisions. The MD is responsible for institutional development, financial management, and oversees marketing and audience services.

Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated individual with excellent writing, organization, business and people skills, with a passion for the arts and the ability to plan long-term. Experience in financial management essential; proficiency in grant writing a huge plus. This is a full-time, salaried position requiring some evenings/weekends. Position begins 8/1/08. Salary commensurate with experience; high 30s with room for growth, benefits package includes medical insurance, vacation pay, paid sick leave and 403(b) retirement program.
