It toured Mexico where it received rave reviews and in 2007 was chosen to perform at the largest Irish Folk Festival in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, just south of Dublin.
It is presently featured on two WTTW videos : http://www.wttw.com/main.taf?erube_fh=wttw&wttw.submit.viewArtsStory=tru...
Sones has been nominated for a 2007 Latin GRAMMY®, a 2008 GRAMMY® and for a North American Folk Music & Dance Alliance Award for Best World Music Artist. The nominations were for its hit song “Esta Tierra es Tuya”; a Spanish version of Woodie Guthrie’s “This Land is Your land”.
The song's Spanish words are as relevant today as the English words were seven decades ago. Today the Spanish words touch on the immigration dilemma.
The event is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. MFDC and Sones programs are partially supported by grants from City Arts II.
