On Tuesday, November 18 Dance Flight will be offered in much the same way as a wine flight with two performance components within one evening, which may be viewed separately or in combination. Elements Contemporary Ballet Summer Workshop	Event Type: Workshop Saturday, August 9, 2008 10:00am - 5:00pm Elements Contemporary Ballet Summer Workshop introduces the ballet dancer to ECB's style, methods, and choreography. Participants study contemporary ballet technique with Artistic Director Mike Gosney, receiving personal coaching designed to expand the dancer's range of movement while developing their ability to make independent artistic choices. Workshop students will also have the opportunity to work in a professional rehearsal setting with the critically acclaimed ECB dancers, inspiring the creation of new choreography through guided improvisation, as well as learning excerpts from the company's original repertoire. The classes culminate in an informal performance in which the students demonstrate the learned material for a guest audience. Friends and family are invited and encouraged to attend the performance. Inkbombed - Social Graffiti And Hip-Hop In The Millennium	Event Type: Opening Event Type: Exhibit Event Type: Performance Event Type: Panel discussion Friday, July 11, 2008 6:30pm - 9:00pm Inkbombed is an art exhibit by Hugostyle “STEP ONE” which explores graffiti and hip-hop's role in addressing social, racial and economic justice. Since graffiti's earliest forms, globally it has been utilized as a tool for the voiceless and oppressed to express their struggle for social change and draw awareness to issues affecting their communities. Hip-hop's roots in poor inner-city communities are undeniable. Despite the current focus on bling, fame and clubbing, graffiti and hip-hop are still valuable and effective ways to promote progressive social justice movements today. Join us at the opening of Inkbombed as we celebrate the socially conscious side of graffiti and hip-hop. The evening will feature spoken word, art, performances, music, and a panel discussion. This is the second phase of development in a long-term duet collaboration between Julia Rae Antonick and Jonathan Meyer. We are excited to welcome Asimina Chremos in a solo performance as part of this event. This performance also features original live music from Joseph St. Charles and Patrick McCarthy and costumes from Iris Bainum-Houle. Tickets are $12 or $8.
