Opened in 1996, The Aurora Residence, the first housing development of its kind in the country, provides supportive housing to special low-income groups including seniors, working professionals and persons living with AIDS. Located at 475 West 57th Street and Tenth Avenue in New York City, The Aurora is a 30-story, high rise condominium that was converted into 178 shared residential units of supportive housing.

The Housing Resource Center provides information on finding affordable housing, roommate and home sharing, tenants’ rights, housing court and purchasing your first home. The Housing Resource Center also sponsors the Housing Bulletin Board where industry members can post housing availabilities and search for places to live.

The Lillian Booth Actors' Home of The Actors' Fund of America in Englewood, New Jersey provides a comfortable living environment on six acres of property for 109 entertainment professionals. The Lillian Booth Actors' Home of the Actors' Fund of America is licensed by the Department of Health and qualifies for Medicaid and Medicare. Individuals who have dedicated a major portion of their professional lives to the entertainment industry are eligible for admission, without regard to their ability to pay. The Actors' Fund of America provides funds to subsidize the extraordinary care that residents of The Lillian Booth Actors' Home of the Actors' Fund of America receive.

Through the Musicians Assistance Program (MAP), an Actors' Fund social worker is situated in the offices of the American Federation of Musicians Local 802 in New York City. The MAP program provides help with a broad range of concerns including health, mental health, chemical dependency, housing, family and child care services. In addition this program offers a broad range of referrals and workshops tailored to the interests and needs of members of the music industry.

The Palm View, opened in 1998, is a new, 40-unit apartment complex which provides homes to low-income people with HIV/AIDS. The Palm View is located on Palm Avenue in West Hollywood, CA.

The Old Rauma is one of the Unesco's Cultural Heritage Sites and the largest area of wooden houses in the Nordic countries. The city of Rauma is situated at the west coast of Finland and has about 38.500 inhabitants. The aim of the RAUMARS residence programme is to provide working facilities for artists, to organise educational events, seminars etc. The main objective is community art; the guest artists take part into community projects and workshops. The RAUMARS residence programme is international, open for artists in the fields of visual arts, architecture, design, art handicraft, literature and music. The artist is expected to work within the local community, take part to the workshops etc. Part of the residency time will be private time to practise his or her arts. Accommodation premises for two artists, 60 sq m, 2 rooms, kitchen, wc/shower. The duration of the residence is 2-6 months. Special space and equipments available if needed. Send a written application to the Lönnström Art Museum. Ask the Lönnström Art Museum for application forms. The selection criteria are previous works and the project plan in which the applicant presents his or her plan for the residency time and the projects and workshops he or she could provide. Participation in the projects will cover the rent. The artist has to cover his or her living and travel expenses.

The studio house is situated on a historic fortress island off Helsinki, included in the Unesco list of world cultural heritage. The studio facilities were built in the 1970s in an old bastion erected in 1770. The office of NIFCA is situated nearby. NIFCA supports production, exhibition and criticism of contemporary visual culture in the Nordic and Baltic countries viewed from a global perspective. NIFCA is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Five studios with accommodation. Studios (1 x 77.5 m2 and 4 x 32 m2)have basic equipment. The sculpture studio is equipped for work with clay and plaster. Various working tools are available at nifca's office, and there is a metal and graphics work-shop, darkroom and project space. Visiting artists have access to computer and www. The accommodations (33 m2, extra accommodation 18.4 m2 can be added to two of the studios) are on the first floor, the access to the flats is through the studios on the ground floor. One room, kitchenette, bathroom, fully furnished and equipped, window and balcony to the south-west, separate telephone lines. There is a laundry room in the studio house and a lounge with a TV set.

Kolin Ryynänen is situated in the eastern part of Finland at the centre of the village of Koli. The village has about 300 inhabitants and the way of life is peaceful and quiet. The Koli National Park is located within a close range. Koli´s nature and hill landscape provided inspiration for several Finnish writers,painters and composers during the National Romantic Period at the end of the 19th century. The main building of the centre was built in 1930´s and it has been renovated in 1997-99. The centre is consisting of the main building, an outbuilding, the building of the Koli Local Arts-and-Crafts Museum and a sauna. There´s a cafe at the first floor of the main building and it is possible to arrange small art exhibitions there. The artists accommodation premises and studio is located at the second floor. There´s also 6 rooms for accommodation at the outbuilding plus one lounge and one room to be used as additional working space/studio. Kolin Ryynänen is a member of Res Artis. An artist living and working in the residence pays a moderate monthly rent during the stay and takes care of his/her living costs and travel expences. The artist may apply for a scholarship from the Koli Cultural Society to cover the rent. It´s also possible that the artists´ "home organisation" gives the artist a scholarship to live and work in Finland and for the travel costs. Duration of residencies: 1-4 months. Applications: by artist to the Koli Cultural Society. A free-form application which should include a curriculum vitae, exhibitions of works, a plan for the use of the time of the residency and the desired length of stay in the residence and the dates. Application deadlines: by 30.9 and by 31.3. The Koli Cultural Society does the selection. Type and size of studios: One, open space appr. 50m². Windows on three walls, spot lights, water faucets, slide projector. Accommodation: A flat, appr. 58 m²; two rooms, kitchen and a bathroom. Fully equipped, including furniture, linen, kitchen ware, dishwasher, microwave oven, TV+VCR, laundry machine and a telephone.
