Offering entertainment or planning a large event or fundraiser?
Make sure your venue has proper licenses and permits
There are a few ways to be licensed to provide entertainment; the most common is by having a Public Place of Amusement License.
Public Place of Amusement
In plain and simple terms, a Public Place of Amusement License (PPA) is required for businesses that offer entertainment or amusement activity. For example, music, dance, karaoke, disc jockey, live acts, or live music.
When do you need a PPA license?
The general rule is when you offer an amusement and collect a cover charge or your occupancy placard has a capacity of over 100.
Indoor Special Events may require a License
The Indoor Special Event License was created to accommodate amusement events that are temporary and open to the public. The special event license may require the proper zoning designations and inspections.
Not sure if you require a license? Be sure to ask a DBA business consultant before planning any entertainment or holiday events.
