PROGRAM DIRECTOR

 

The Program Director serves as the manager for a multi-site music education program reaching underserved CPS students throughout Chicagoland. The Program Director is a salaried full-time position, and requires some weekends and evenings. The position supports the Executive Director in raising the annual operating budget of the organization, monitoring the program budget, and in the administration of all programs.  S/he reports to the Executive Director.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1)    Management of music education program that offers free professional music instruction to underserved students in the Chicago area. Lead responsibility for this program includes the following duties:

a.  Coordination with site staff: ensuring that all partner sites comply with and maintain basic program expectations.  The Program Director is available to site staff for any questions or concerns that may arise.

b.  Coordination of music instructors: responsible for interviewing and maintaining records on all instructors, scheduling various lesson calendars including cancellations and make uplessons.

c.  Maintain relationships with vendors &partners: purchases instruments, oversees contracts with CPS, faculty and vendors, etc.

d.  Documentation and program evaluation: collect evaluation data from faculty and partner sites, chart outcomes and measures, analyze the information and create reports that allow the organization to make improvements and plan for future expansions, researching potential partnerships/opportunities to expand the program.

e.  Serve as chairperson of Program Committee: reporting status and opportunities to the governance board

 

2)    Assists the Executive Director and Special EventsManager at organization’s fundraising events.

 

 


 


 

Qualifications and Application Requirements

Qualifications:

Required:

1)    Candidate must own car in good working order to travel to various off site programs. (Organization will reimburse for mileage)

2)    B.A. or higher in music and/or music education

3)    Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing and organizing skills – writing samples will be required.

4)    Excellent computer proficiency.

5)    Available to work some evenings, nights and weekends

 

 

Helpful but not necessary:

Familiarity with Chicago philanthropic resources

Previous grant writing experience

Previous teaching experience

Avid interest in music and performing arts

Experience working with Governing Boards and Volunteer Committees
