Lecture Checklist

Once you have a lecture venue, make sure you find out the answers to the following questions, and follow the suggested timeline below.  Choose the questions that are applicable to your project and the venue.
 

INITIAL INQUIRIES

(Choose the questions that are applicable to your lecture and the venue.)

• Date and time for the lecture.

• What is the honorarium or artist‘s fee?

• Who is your audience?

• How long are you expected to talk?

• Is the venue set up for questions from the audience?

• What are the responsibilities of the venue or gallery?

• What are your responsibilities as the artist?

• Who is the main contact person for the venue?

• What are the particular issues the venue expects you to address?

Artists at Work Forums at the Chicago Cultural Center

Artists at Work Forums present local leaders – artists and other experts – in discussion about issues of concern for artists in Chicago – from marketing and p.r. to legal issues, to strategies for “careers that work”.  The forums have been held at the Chicago Cultural Center since 2002, and sponsored by the Richard H. Governor Rod Blagojevich wants to cut over $7 million (30%) from the 2008 Illinois Art Council (IAC) budget.  A chorus of voices is needed to restore state's investment in the arts and arts education!  Act now to send a powerful message to Governor Rod Blagojevich, Senate President Emil Jones, House Speaker Michael Madigan, and other state lawmakers that the arts are not pork!  Click here for more info
