Featuring the WORLD PREMIERE of George W. Flynn’s “Howl,” commissioned by Anaphora and based on the Allen Ginsberg poem of the same title, as well as Natasha Bogojevich’s “The Émigré's Waltz” and Virko Baley’s “Centos.”

Both George W. Flynn and Natasha Bogojevich will be in attendance.

Serbian composer Natasha Bogojevich wrote “The Émigré's Waltz” in the hopes of enriching the American Furniture Music repertoire. The title is suitable for two reasons: (1) the entire composition is in 3/4, and (2) its autobiographic nature for Natasha. Émigré is a piece of furniture herself; being in America for so long it seems permanent. Natasha is currently on faculty at DePaul University.

"Centos" is best described as a patchwork of different passages written mostly by Baley with an occasional bow to others such as Baley's dear friend and colleague and fellow Ukrainian composer, Valentin Bibik. Virko is currently on faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Chicago Legend George Flynn chaired Musicianship and Composition at DePaul University for 25 years, and continues to direct DePaul's professional contemporary performance series, "New Music Depaul" as well as Chicago's "New Music at the Green Mill" series. Flynn's music is performed internationally.
