ChicagoAssist in the planning and execution of the Chicago Cultural Center’s diverse musical programs, with particular emphasis on the classical concert series, including Chicago’s first Early Music Festival (April 20th – 25th).
The Chicago Cultural Center is a landmark venue where the visual and performing arts are celebrated in more than 750 free concerts, exhibitions and programs each year.
Job Title: Classical Programs Intern
Period: March - May, 2010
Commitment: 2 – 3 days a week (see below for further details)
Responsibilities: Works with the Program Coordinator in planning and administration of free music programs at the Chicago Cultural Center and Millennium Park including Classical Mondays, Sunday Salon Series, Chicago Under the Dome and the Chicago Early Music Festival (www.chicagoearlymusicfest.org).
Candidates should be available to work April 19th – 25th, on Early Music Festival events, as well as attending Sunday and Monday programs in May.
Duties will include:
- Concert management
- Maintaining artist submissions, organizing and attending review sessions
- Liasing with classical artists and organizations; collecting and compiling artist information and creating recital programs
- Research projects to support event planning
- Evaluating classical programs
- Proofreading and writing marketing and PR copy
- Assisting with the production of the Chicago Early Music Festival
