UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. — NeilBerg’s “100 Years of Broadway” comes to The Center for Performing Arts atGovernors State University to perform classic Broadway hits Sunday, March14 at 4 p.m. This live concert event features five performers with Broadwaycredentials, accompanied by some of New York’s finest stage musicians, whoperform dazzling arrangements of the renowned songs and scenes made legendary on Broadway. Single tickets are now on sale, starting at just $26 and available at centertickets.netor by calling The Center’s friendly Box Office staff at (708) 235-2222.Theatergoers are also welcome to participate in The Center’s new pre-show dining option at Scrementi’s, 3760Chicago Road, Steger, Ill. This option offers patrons the opportunity to enjoya delicious pre-fixe menu that includes salad, beef, pasta, chicken, coffee anddessert for $25 per person. Advance reservations are required; call The Centerat (708) 235-2222.  Led by pianist and composer Neil Berg, ”100Years of Broadway” presents a comprehensive musical revue that spans the grand100- (technically, 102-) year history of Broadway. The set list for the show includes brilliantly revived arrangements of songs from "A ChorusLine," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Annie," "AnythingGoes," "Brigadoon," "Cabaret," "Guys andDolls," "Hair," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "LaBoheme," "La Cage aux Folles," "Little Shop ofHorrors," "Man of La Mancha," "Miss Saigon,""Oklahoma," "Phantom of the Opera," "Pippin,""Ragtime," "Rock of Ages," "Secret Garden,""Show Boat," "Sound of Music," "The ScarletPimpernel," "Tommy," and "Wicked."

 

Neil Berg is a composer and lyricist whowrote the Off-Broadway hit musical “The Prince and the Pauper,” which ran fortwo years at Lambs Theatre in New York City. “(Berg’s) music soars onAngel’s wings,” raves The New York Times. With several shows under his belt,Berg is currently composing the musical “Grumpy Old Men,” based on the popularmovie and scheduled to open on Broadway during the 2010-2011 season. The castfor “100 Years of Broadway” at The Center includes Broadway stars Rita Harvey, Brad Little, Carter Calvert,RobertDuSold and LawrenceClayton.

 

The Center also proudly announces “Singingwith the Broadway Stars,” a convenient onlineaudition opportunity offering a chance to join the five Broadway stars onstage. Submission guidelines are posted at www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com. The final submission deadline is Monday, March 1 at 11:59 p.m. One winner andup to eight runners-up will be selected by the show’s panel of industry experts,including producers, singers, and managers as well as Pianist and Arranger NeilBerg. Winners will be notified via phone or e-mail by Friday, March 5, and willalso receive a pair of complimentary tickets for their family and friends tosee their “Broadway” debut.
