The Chicago Sinfonietta Presents "Las Americas"

The fourth concert of the Chicago Sinfonietta’s 2009-2010 season will unite the sounds of North and South America in "Las Americas" which will feature the Chicago debuts of acclaimed conductor Alondra de la Parra and Sphinx Award-winning cellist, Tony Rymer. An American-born Mexican conductor, de la Parra is the founder and artistic director of New York’s Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. Drawing on her own heritage, she will lead the Sinfonietta through Astor Piazzolla’s colorful and rhythmic Tangazo, Mexican-born composer Arturo Màrquez’s Espejos en la Arena, and Beethoven’s lively and rhythmic Symphony No. 7.
