Lyric Opera auditions Black and African American Supers for Porgy and Bess

On Tuesday, October 14th Lyric Opera of Chicago will hold auditions for Black and African American Volunteer Supers for Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess directed by Francesca Zambello. These are non-speaking, non-singing roles. The following measurements are the Supers who originally appeared in this production. Our Supers must fit into the existing costumes. Minor alterations may be possible. At 6:00 pm: Black and African American Adults. 8 MEN: Height: 5’7- 6’2 Chest: 34”-51” Waist: 29”-48” 6 WOMEN: Height: 5’1-5’7 Chest: 33”-42” Waist: 29”-37” At 7:00 pm: Black and African American Children. 6 BOYS: Height: 3’4-4’11” Chest: 24”-31” Waist: 23”-30” 6 GIRLS: Height: 4’2-5’3 Chest: 22”-35” Waist: 20”-32” Come to the audition prepared to learn and follow stage directions. Adult Volunteer Supers receive $15.00 per rehearsal and performance call. Child Volunteer Supers may apply for an education grant from The Ryan Opera Center. Rehearsal begins on Thursday, October 16th. Piano Run-Through is Tuesday, November 11th at 2pm. Dress Rehearsal is Friday, November 14th at 1pm. There are 13 performances from November 18th through December 19th with matinees on November 23rd and 26th and December 18th. You must RSVP to audition. If you are registering a child, include the name and phone number of the accompanying adult. The audition will be held at Lyric Opera of Chicago, 20 N. Wacker Drive. Be prepared to show a current government issued photo ID to gain access to the Civic Opera House. Enter the building at the stage door on Wacker Drive near Washington. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the audition to sign in.
