General Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Arts Administration, or a related field, supplemented by five years of progressively responsible professional, orchestra, performing arts management, accounting, financial management, or project management experience, plus two years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
Considerable knowledge of accounting, auditing, financial management, budgeting, cost analysis and forecasting principles. Ability to manage and coordinate the work of subordinate staff, establish effective working relationships, and establish/implement policies and procedures. Considerable skill in preparing budgets and financial reports. Considerable organizational, computer, research, human relations, and written and oral communication skills.
Available to work evenings and weekends.

DUTIES: Under direction of the Artistic and General Director, the General Manager manages and directs the financial, budgetary, artistic and general operations of the Grant Park Orchestral Association (GPOA). Establishes and oversees the implementation of work standards, policies, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency. Manages the coordination and preparation of GPOA program budgets. Acts as a liaison with City of Chicago operating departments, including the Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park, GPOA board of directors, corporations, community organizations, and other outside entities as needed. Directs and supervises staff engaged in administrative, financial, artistic and general operational activities. Manages the staffing at Grant Park Music Festival (GPMF) concerts and works on-site during concerts. Develops work standards and conducts staff performance evaluations. Directs the preparation of program books and promotional materials for GPMF concerts. Directs the compilation of financial and operational data, and prepares comprehensive narrative and statistical reports regarding division work activities. Performs related duties as required.
