The Strand Artists Lofts is a new affordable artists’ condominium development planned for Chicago's South Side. Its 36 units of live/work space will be subsidized by the Chicago Department of Housing for qualified buyers. Find out more about this opportunity at one of three community meetings during July, 2008.

Meetings will be held at the The Grand Ballroom located at 6351 S. Cottage Grove Ave. (1/2 block from The Strand).

History -- The Strand Hotel was one of the South Side's prime commercial and entertainment venues during the roaring 1920’s. Located steps from the 63rd/Cottage Grove Green Line CTA Stop, it will be rennovated into 36 units of affordable artist live/work space and ground floor commercial space. This is Chicago's first affordable artist live/work condominium project to be developed since 2003.
The Strand is located at 6315 S. Cottage Grove Avenue. It is 1/2 block
from the 63rd/Cottage Green Line CTA stop, and 2 blocks south of the
University of Chicago's planned Logan Center for the Creative and
Performing Arts, scheduled to open in 2011.
