Odradek Theatre&#039;s upcoming production of Paradise Park, adapted from Chuck Mee&#039;s text by Mark Litwicki and Jonathen Wikholm, and directed by Ashley-Marie Quijano, is in need of a creative and hard working sound designer.

The show will run April 13th - May 5th. Rehearsals start Feb 27th, running Mondays through Thursdays. Rehearsals and shows will take place at the Think Tank Theatre, 1770 W. Berteau, Chicago Il., 60613.

The sound designer for Paradise Park will be working with Conor McQueen our composer from San Diego - who may or may not be present for tech and show days. Conor will be composing an entire soundtrack for the show, and more music than will even be needed. The sound designer will need to be in contact with Conor and Ashley-Marie about what is needed for the show, will work to take what has been created for him and fit it to the show, as well as to design other needed sounds.

This is an unpaid position. However, Odradek is still looking for resident designers that we can continue to work with in the future, and begin a creative repertoire with. Community is very important to us, as is working with artists we trust and enjoy.

Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, marketing savvy candidate to provide support to CAPE&#039;s development and marketing staff. The intern will assist with special events planning, donor data entry, and researching mailing lists, grant prospects and corporations. The intern will work a minimum of 5  hours a week from March through June. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in the fields of marketing, fundraising and arts administration.

CAPE is recognized nationally for being an innovative leader in the field of arts education. NOW IS THE TIME (NITT) is a shared initiative of the Chicago Public Library (CPL), Steppenwolf Theatre and Facing History and Ourselves (FHAO). Each institution in this three-pronged partnership has a major project taking place in 2012 – 2013 that examines topics such as injustice, violence, tolerance and individual responsibility -- asking Chicago youth to make positive change in their communities NOW by “choosing to participate.” NITT provides a thematic framework for these related initiatives and will be comprised of a set of experiences, activities and a call to action for Chicago’s youth.

Steppenwolf, CPL and FHAO are members of the newly-formed Hive Learning Network. The Hive Learning Network is a community of civic and cultural institutions dedicated to transforming the learning landscape, and creating opportunities for youth to explore their interests in virtual and physical spaces. Through Hive, youth will have multiple, continuous and connected opportunities to explore their intellectual and skill-based interests.

• Engage youth with various passions and skills in authentic “Hanging Out, Messing Around and Geeking Out” (HOMAGO) activities such as digital media creation, critique, performance, book discussions, community conversations and civic engagement around NITT themes such as injustice, hate, violence, tolerance and individual responsibility.

• Create linked opportunities for youth collaboration, expression and discourse around NITT themes.

• Provide youth with pathways to social activism through individual and linked NITT activities.

• Engage youth in multi-dimensional experiences and provide spaces and activities for youth to connect with each other outside of school and their neighborhoods.

The Chicago Public Library’s fall 2012 One Book, One Chicago (OBOC) selection is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak —a novel which explores people’s choices and their potential as civic participants. During the months of October- November teens, teachers and adults will engage in book discussions, events and community conversations. Chicago teens will have the opportunity to attend a teen-only program with Markus Zusak, an adaptation of the book at Steppenwolf Theatre, the “Choosing to Participate” Facing History exhibition and mentor-led workshops in YOUmedia designed to support media creation and civic engagement around themes in the book.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) brings high-quality theatre to artistically curious young adults across Chicago. SYA will adapt the OBOC selection for the stage. An adaptation workshop for school groups will be offered in fall 2012. In addition, Steppenwolf is working with author Miles Harvey and his undergraduate and graduate students at DePaul University to collect oral histories about youth violence across the city. These oral histories will be made into a theatre piece that will travel to libraries in different communities across the city; each reading will be followed by a community conversation. Teens will participate in these readings and conversations. Other Chicago theatres will participate in NITT by focusing programming from their theatres on issues of tolerance, youth violence and community. Each of these programs can be used as a jumping off point for teen media creation and conversation.

Facing History and Ourselves will host its multimedia exhibit Choosing to Participate in Chicago at the Chicago Public Library’s Harold Washington Library Center August 27–November 11, 2012. The exhibit is part of a national initiative aimed at encouraging young people and adults to think deeply about the importance of participation in a democratic society. The exhibit, its companion website (choosingtoparticipate.org), and related events examine the impact and history of racism and injustice and showcase courageous choices made by communities and individuals to foster compassion and inclusion. The exhibit encourages and empowers adolescents and adults to take its lessons into the community, exposes visitors to compelling models of civic participation, raises awareness of the consequences of individual choices, and enhances awareness of each person&#039;s capacity to make a difference.

Facing History will conduct teacher training to connect the OBOC selection and play with the themes of Choosing to Participate. Workshops will take place with Chicago area teachers in summer 2012. The exhibit will also feature “pARTicipation: Young Artists Speak Up” and “Upstanders: Portraits in Courage,” two community-focused companion displays highlighting local individual stories. Work created in YOUmedia-led workshops will also be integrated into these sections of the exhibit.

weeks of classical concerts in Chicago’s Millennium Park.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Most concerts take place outdoors in the Jay
Pritzker Pavilion designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and several
concerts take place inside the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The Festival is highly committed to
introducing new audiences to classical music and presenting adventurous
world-class programming.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The Grant Park
Orchestra and Chorus are comprised of musicians from other well-regarded
