22: Rehabbing Your Space
This chapter discusses the ins and outs of rehabbing both residential and commercial spaces. Of particular importance is the section on converting storefronts into live/work spaces. With the November 2004 update of the Chicago Zoning Ordinance, artist live/work spaces are permitted as of right in certain districts. In other words, you can legally create these types of live/work spaces in storefronts.
Information and resources on obtaining rehab financing and how to locate professionals to assist you are also covered.
