AN INTERMEDIA APPROACH TO ARTS EDUCATION...Voted "best new art school" by New City Chicago! Co-founded by three university Instructors, we encourage a practice that doesn't confine itself to one media. Even if that entails not being a master of one media, we believe there is value in being able to speak multiple languages. As a result our school offers classes in specific concentrations (video, design, sound), but also in theme-based classes which include multiple media education.
The artistic experience at The Chicago Art Department (CAD) is driven by three simple goals: TRY IT! Our art is about exploring uncharted territories. It's about the love of experimenting. It's about providing a comfortable environment to try unfamiliar things and push your boundaries. MAKE IT! Our art is about translating impulse and ideas into a realized, actualized work. It's about composing, crafting, and finishing. SHARE IT! Our art is about sharing it with others. It's about showing your work in an exhibition, performing in front of a an audience, screening, publishing, documenting.
OUR NEW SEMESTER STARTS IN FEBRUARY 2006! Our new semester will be starting in February of 2006. Classes being offered include GoGo Video, Soundamentals, Novel Design, Live Visuals, and Art of Games. There is also a different social event every Friday night. All classes take place in a public gallery located in Pilsen's Chicago Arts District. Class/student exhibitions take place both in the schoolhouse gallery and also at various locations around the city of Chicago.
