Join Us! The next CDF/Silverspace Salon will be on Monday, March 22 with Mark Jeffrey and Judd Morrissey  discussing the build process for The Precession, which will premiere at the Hyde Park Art Center in December, 2010. Allison Peters Quinn, Director of Exhibitions, joins the conversation to offer curatorial insight from the museum's perspective.

The Precession will be a performance, installation, and digital poem inspired by New Deal-era architecture and labor histories and concerned with the use of collective data and community participation to dream a new American landscape. The Precession seeks to reflect the fluidity of contemporary culture and to make use of, imitate, and physicalize the dynamics of a social network. The work will utilize thematically appropriate material sampled in real-time from Twitter, and will feature large-scale choreographic sequences involving non-performers chosen from the locale of a performance. Historical sources considered include the Hoover Dam, The Living Newspapers, and Busby Berkeley.
