Video Intern | Ballroom Dance Chicago

Ballroom Dance Chicago, Chicago’s top rated ballroom, Latin and wedding dance studios, offer video and marketing internship opportunities to students and recent graduates who have a strong desire to develop their experience in video, digital media, and advertising for a small business. Ballroom Dance Chicago aims to create cheeky web content to engage their students and the general population and build their voice as a brand. By working directly with the studio staff, the intern will gain experience in planning, creating, and editing digital content for social media and advertising. Should there be an interest, there is an opportunity for the Intern to gain experience in Latin & Ballroom Dance, as an additional part of their internship.  Internships are offered as 3-month courses, with the opportunity for extension.

The ideal intern will be either a Film/video major or minor with heavy interest in dance or dance or theater major or minor with an interest in creating and editing video. Internships are available during the Winter and Spring of 2018  and take place at the Lakeview studio (4039B N Ravenswood Ave). Interns can expect an average of 10 - 15 afternoon or evening hours of work and training per week.

Interns will gain skills in:

  • Brainstorming and script/plot writing

  • Storyboarding

  • Assisting on video shoots, including set dressing, camera work, and audio

  • Video and audio editing on various platforms

  • Crafting video copy and social media posts

  • Working with a small team to produce video from start to finish

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Friendly and outgoing personality

  • The ability to adapt to various personalities and situations

  • A responsible character

  • Good sense of humor

  • Creativity and a willingness to think outside the box

  • Ability to work in both a group and individual setting

  • Strong writing skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and discipline to be self-motivated

  • Interest and experience in dance prefered

  • Part-time availability on evenings or weekend  afternoons

  • Experience in video editing

  • Computer fluency on Mac
