Teaching Artist for Windy City Performs

Chicago's fastest growing youth theater is hiring Lead and Assitant Teaching Artists for an IMMEDIATE START!! 


Windy City Performs  believes that young artists can command their own audiences, so we prepare and produce musicals at our school sites.  These teachers will direct a group of students through a partially produced Musical. This Fall we are doing Peter Pan! 
We have various schoolsites throughout Chicago's North Side. Peter Pan/Peter and the Starcatcher will be a 12 week program with one rehearsal a week after school lasting 1.5-2 hours (depending on the age group.) Overall it would be 40 contact hours total. Schoolsite students are anywhere from 6-14 years of age. Our teaching artists are expected to have excellent positive classroom management, professionally prepared lesson plans and a passion for youth theatre. 


A stipend based upon a per hour rate of $17.25 for Lead Teachers 
A stipend based upon a per hour rate of $13.50 for Assistant Teachers

Skills & Qualifications: 
Windy City Performs' Teaching Artists are professional, positive, and passionate about theatre.  They should have experience working with young artists, ages 4-18, in a teaching role.  They should be able to collaborate with co-teachers and designers, and be open and welcome to professional development from a teaching coach.
Ideal Candidates will possess:
-Excellent Communication Skills
-Theatrical Leadership experience
- A background in Musical Theatre performance and/or education
- Experience working with Young People
- Ability to learn quickly
