Program & Event Coordinator - Movies in the Parks

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Movies in the Parks brings movies to more than 150 local parks every summer; creating neighborhood camaraderie and a fun, safe and one-of-a-kind way to experience one of America’s favorite pastimes in Chicago’s beautiful outdoor spaces. Movies are shown outdoors, whenever possible, on large screens with high-quality projection and sound equipment and accompanied by free popcorn.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Movies in the Parks Program & Event Coordinator will work, under supervision, to coordinate the daily operations of the Movies in the Parks program – including overseeing program crew and staff schedule, troubleshooting and maintaining audio/visual and technical equipment, inventorying and stocking program supplies, traveling to parks across the city to deliver equipment and supplies as needed and assisting onsite as site supervisor and as part of the Movies in the Parks crew to maintain working knowledge of the program and cover staff absences and vacancies.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Schedules staff and assigns shifts to ensure program needs are met. Coordinates and leads daily dispatch of Movies in the Parks teams and trucks. Communicates with park supervisors in adavance of screenings to ensure preparedness of staff and park. Works with park staff, movies staff, underwriters and sponsors onsite to ensure smooth event and safety of operations. Maintains and stocks inventory of equipment and supplies. Troubleshoots sound and video equipment as needed to ensure smooth operations. 

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 
Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field supplemented by three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough working knowledge of standard audio and video equipment, including projectors, speakers, mixing consoles, cables, PC computers). Ability to understand, coordinate and implement a schedule of 200+ events, 13 staff members and 3 trucks. Experience managing staff. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Strong organization and planning skills.
