Production Assistant

Ensemble Media is a dynamic and driven Chicago-based communications agency with an active presence in Washington, DC. Our clients are improving healthcare, education, the environment, making art accessible, and supporting community through sustainable development. We work with them to create everything from animated public service PSAs about vaccination, websites for global health workers, data visualizations about education impact, and videos to reach students and teachers in developing countries. We are intentional about the work we do and committed to innovation and strong, clear messaging.

We seek a smart, creative and organized professional to support Ensemble productions. The production assistant will support the Director in all phases of production of video, animation and digital content. This role requires strong attention to detail and an efficient, flexible and upbeat approach to project coordination. A passion for cause-driven, educational and non-profit projects is required.

Our studio is in the Uptown neighborhood and travel to the studio is required. This is not a remote position. The production assistant will work up to 20 hours per week.

Skills & Qualifications: 
Demonstrated Experience Required:
-        Taking a video project from script development to production to editing
-        Taking a graphic design or other digital project from creative brief through to completion
-        Ensuring proper file management, back-up and storage
-        Handling pre-production logistics, including equipment rental, travel booking, location scouting
-        Camera operating with DSLR and interchangeable lens cameras, audio and lighting setup
-        Using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign and some After Effects
-        Understanding of sound editing and mixing
-        Understanding of Wordpress preferred
-        Meeting deadlines, juggling multiple projects and prioritizing tasks
-        Working in a small team and independently
-        Effectively using strong communications skills (verbal and written) in a professional environment.
Responsibilities include, and are not limited to:
-       Pre-production: assist with location scouting, equipment rental, travel booking
-       Research: identify stock images, footage, music and sound effects
-       Research: identify production talent in locations in the U.S. and globally
-       Production: assist as needed with shoots and creative meetings in the Chicago area
-       Production: create digital content for social media outreach
-       Post-production: basic editing, file management and backup
-       Track project progress and provide weekly updates. 
Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in visual arts, video production, advertising, communications, marketing, public/media relations, or related area of study. 
  • 2+ years of experience working in communications, digital marketing, or video and film production.
  • 1+ years of experience working or volunteering with a non-profit organization/initiative.
  • A positive attitude and a sense of humor.
