We are hiring Lead and Assitant Teaching Artists for our Spring Schoolsite Programs Beginning in late January and Early February! 

OUR COMPANY:  Windy City Performs  believes that young artists can command their own audiences.
 
THE PROGRAM:  We prepare and produce semi-produced musicals at our school sites.  Teaching artists will lead a 13-week rehearsal process - 1x a week at each school, with a tech week and one or two performances. We have 3rd-8th grade and 1sr-2nd grade programs at schools all over NW Chicago. The rehearsals and productions are supported by our office, via the Schoolsite Manager and Schoolsite Producer.  We provide a comprehensive training program to prepare you for these unique programs. 
 
TEACHING ARTISTS: We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and confident teaching artist-directors. We have high expectations for our students, but also want themt to develop a positive, lifelong relationship with theatre and the Arts.   Our teachers are patient, flexible, team players who embrace the idea that kids can command their own audiences!   See below.  
 
We are currently looking for teachers who want to take on a few programs, teaching with us multiple afternoons each week.  
 
 

COMPENSATION: 

Up to $21.00 hour based on experience and training.

Windy City Performs' Teaching Artists are professional, positive, and passionate about theatre.  They should have experience working with young artists, ages 4-18, in a teaching role.  They should be able to collaborate with co-teachers and designers, and be open and welcome to professional development from a teaching coach.
 
 
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal Candidates will possess:
  • A background in Musical Theatre performance and/or education.  At least a Bachelors in theatre, music and/or related.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Theatrical directing experience, including assisting or interning
  • Experience working with young people
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Flexibility
  • Professionalism
  • Positive and Upbeat attitude
  • Commitment to being on time
