Moraine Valley is the home of the  Fine and Performing Arts Center offers an array of music, dance, theater, and art for all ages. Featuring the Dorothy Menker Theater, the John and Angeline Oremus Theater, and the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery, the center opened its doors in 1994. The center prides itself as a showcase for performances, a catalyst for budding artists to practice their art, a center for academic preparation for two-year degrees and transfer programs, and a resource for all who love the arts and want to learn more.

The mission of the Fine and Performing Arts Center, through its public presentations of dance, music, theater and the visual arts, is to enrich the members of the college community by providing opportunities for people of all ages to experience and grow through the arts.

The Center is currently looking to fill the position of House Manager. The House Manager is present for all public events at the Fine and Performing Arts Center and serves as supervisor to the volunteer usher team and handles all of the primary front-of-house activities to efficiently run an event.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

-Be present for events at the Fine and Performing Arts Center

-Open and close theater spaces for events

-Assure that every event is conducted in a manner consistent with college rules and guidelines as well as Fine and Performing Arts Center policies

-Responsible for safely getting the public in and out of the theater

-Works with the backstage crew to ensure a smooth start to every performance

-Clears the auditorium following a performance

-Supervises a team of floor managers during performances

-Supervise volunteer usher corps

-Learn basic box office duties and be able to step into the box office, if needed

-Supervise and assist with concession sales, as needed

-Assist with special events including post-show receptions and donor events

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

QUALIFICATIONS

-Enthusiastic in regards to the performing arts

-Previous experience as a Supervisor

-Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills

-Ability to perform basic accounting tasks as associated with box office operations

-Previous House Management experience a plus

-MUST WORK WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS to accommodate scheduled events

-Must have current BASSETT certification or be willing to gain that certification as soon as hired.
