Hearts to Art Group Leaders

This unique camp brings together young people between the ages of 7 and 14 who have experienced the death of a parent to celebrate the healing power of creative play. Through the exploration and creation of theatre, music, and dance, Hearts to Art encourages communication and collaboration, fosters emotional growth, and provides the consolation of friendship and compassion. Through interaction with young people who have experienced a similar loss, campers understand they are not alone.

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Group Leaders (GL’s) are the mentors and first point of contact for campers.  GL’s execute logistical responsibilities such as the movement of campers from one activity to the next; lunch time supervision; coordination and facilitation of camper sign in and out, they are mentors, team leaders and the building blocks of our community working not only with our campers but also our Junior Counselors (former campers who have aged out and are returning in a working capacity). GL’s must be creative, responsive, energetic and flexible. The ideal candidate will be individuals of high character with the ability to serve as positive role models, will have previous experience working with young people in a camp or educational setting, and will have educational or professional experience with and/or clear passion for art as a tool to address loss and trauma.
