Event Crew - Movies in the Parks

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Movies in the Parks brings movies to more than 150 local parks every summer; creating neighborhood camaraderie and a fun, safe and one-of-a-kind way to experience one of America’s favorite pastimes in Chicago’s beautiful outdoor spaces. Movies are shown outdoors, whenever possible, on large screens with high-quality projection and sound equipment and accompanied by free popcorn.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Movie Interns work as part of a three-person team to deliver, set up, troubleshoot and operate movie equipment in local parks, show movies, record attendance and event details, pop and serve popcorn, and interact with the general public as representatives the Chicago Park District. Occassional heavy lifting required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Works with a team to drive the Movies in the Parks team and truck to a park each night. Works with a team to check and setup equipment for each movie. Speaks and interacts with the public one-on-one and in large groups. Prepares and serves popcorn to the public. Sets up, works with and troubleshoots standard audio and video equipment. Works with team members, park staff, underwriters and sponsors onsite to ensure smooth operations and safety of event. Cleans and maintains program supplies and equipment.

 

Must be able to commit to evening and weekend shifts throughout the entire Movies in the Parks season (June 1 – September 9).

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Training and Experience: High School graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Experience working on public programs, events or performances is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of standard audio and video equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Experience working customers and/or patrons. Some heavy lifting required. Standing for long periods required. Driving required. Ability to work evening shifts (including weekends) throughout the summer required.
