GOVERNORS STATE UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS SEEKS DIRECTOR FOR JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
Governors State University Center for Performing Arts (GSU CPA), in partnership with the Southland Area Theatre Ensemble (SLATE), is seeking applications for a visiting director position for its January 2019 production of Jesus Christ Superstar. This production will be staged at the CPA in an intimate cabaret-style setting with an audience of 150 seated on the stage with the performers.
Performance dates are scheduled for January 25-26 at 8 p.m. and January 27 at 2 p.m. at Governors State University Center for Performing Arts.
Auditions will be scheduled in early November. CPA will promote audition dates. The director is responsible for casting all roles for the show.
Since its founding in 2009, SLATE has brought talented community members together to produce quality musical theatre shows on a state-of-the-art stage at affordable ticket prices for the Chicago Southland. Previous productions include Assassins; Company; The Light in the Piazza; The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee; and Caroline, or Change.
The rehearsal time frame is 5-8 weeks. The director, upon considering cast availability, is responsible for scheduling. Directors will work with a vocal/musical director, choreographer, stage manager, costumer, and designers. Directors are encouraged but not required to suggest their own vocal/musical director, choreographer, stage manager, costumer, and designers. There is a small stipend commensurate with experience for those positions.
A stipend commensurate with experience is provided.
